I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. - John 6:35
The bishop, priests and deacons are the ordinary ministers of Holy Communion. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are parishioners commissioned to assist the priest in distributing the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to the assembly and to those members of society who are shut-ins or for some reason are unable to attend Mass. In sharing this responsibility with the priest, we affirm that we are the Body of Christ; that we are one in faith, hope and love.
Volunteers serving in this ministry must always be conscious of the sacred presence they hold in their hands and must seek to live Christ-centered lives. Serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a privilege.
